Gabrielle Wills is an economist with Research on Socio-Economic Policy, (ReSEP, resep.sun.ac.za) in the Department of Economics at Stellenbosch University, South Africa. Her current areas of research include education systems reform, early childhood development, and school leadership and management. She holds a PhD in economics from Stellenbosch University. Gabrielle has been involved in various research projects and capacity development initiatives for local and international organisations, including the South African Presidency, the South African Department of Basic Education, the Ministry of Education in Namibia and UNICEF. Locally she co-authored the "Binding Constraints in Education" project for the South African Presidency and the European Union which received considerable media dissemination across the country. She was a team leader for the National-Income Dynamics Study Coronavirus Rapid Mobile Survey (NIDS-CRAM), which rapidly responded at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic to provide nationally representative survey data and policy-relevant research on the socio-economic impacts of the pandemic in South Africa.
