Carlene is a Senior Researcher in the Development Policy Research Unit (DPRU), located within the School of Economics at the University of Cape Town, South Africa.  She has a Master’s Degree in Economics from the University of Stellenbosch, South Africa.  Her research interests are in the area of labour economics, poverty and inequality. Her previous employers include the Budget Information Service, IDASA where she conducted pro-poor budget analysis and The Western Cape Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (WESGRO).
