Daniela Casale trained as an economist, completing her PhD in Economics at the University of Natal, Durban in 2003. She currently works as Senior Research Fellow in Development Studies at the University of KwaZulu-Natal. Her research falls mainly within the fields of household, labour and gender economics, with a particular focus on South Africa. Her work has been published in a variety of journals, including Economic Development and Cultural Change, Journal of African Economies, Applied Economics and Feminist Economics.
