Margot Rubin is a lecturer at the School of Geography and Planning, Cardiff University, a research associate at the Gauteng City Region Observatory and a visiting lecturer at Wits School of Architecture and Planning. She is the co-editor of Densifying the City? Global cases and Johannesburg and Housing in African Cities: a lens on Urban Governance, as well as, the journal African Studies.

Her work has focused on issues of social justice, informality and sustainability through the lenses of housing, mobility, gender and urban governance. She has largely worked in the Global South and utilises innovative qualitative methods to investigate challenging issues in urban environments.

It publishes accessible research- and expertise-based articles and provides a forum for engagement between research and policy making.
