Nasha Mavee is a PhD student at the University of Johannesburg and International Monetary Fund local economist. The has published a working paper at IMF, looking at the determinants of high frequency exchange rate volatility – in particular, local versus international macroeconomic surprises, commodity price volatility, global market risk perception and political uncertainty. This has given her exposure to the world of real macroeconomics, fiscal, monetary and financial economics in the South African IMF resident representative office.
